About

Welcome to Fixing Food, an initiative by The Humanitarian Changemakers Network (HCN) dedicated to building sustainable food systems through permaculture and ecosystem integration. Our goal is to empower changemakers with the tools and knowledge they need to create sustainable food systems that benefit both people and the planet.

At Fixing Food, we believe that sustainable food systems are critical to achieving the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By integrating permaculture principles and ecosystem thinking into food production, we can reduce waste, increase biodiversity, and promote healthy and sustainable living.

Our initiative is designed to teach changemakers systems-thinking, an approach that emphasizes the interconnectedness of social, economic, and environmental factors. We believe that this approach is essential to creating long-term, sustainable solutions to food insecurity and environmental degradation.

At Fixing Food, we are committed to making this information accessible to everyone, regardless of their background or financial situation. We believe that access to knowledge is a basic human right and that everyone should have the opportunity to learn and grow.

Our goals:

1) Help people to understand systems-thinking and apply these skills to take action locally
2) Explore and promote innovative solutions that address the root causes of many problems facing the global food system
3) Ensure that the broader environmental and human elements of the food system enable it to be ethical, sustainable, and healthy for all, through permaculture
